COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The course is designed to orient students with the study of business and to provide the foundation needed for subsequent courses of the BBA program. The focus of the course is on developing students’ skills for:
•independent and collaborative learning
•researching and communicating business ideas
•applying theories and models to analyse and evaluate real-world business situations and contexts
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
BUS-101 is an introductory course and provides an overview of business and the role that business plays in economic, social, and political environments. In addition, it will provide exposure to the functional areas of business such as management, operations, marketing, and finance. There will be opportunities throughout the course to discuss current events in business as they apply to the topics being covered.
TEACHING APPROACH:
Integrated mix of lectures, student presentation, group project and individual assignments.
